Newton Abbot Shakespeare Festival
Class 6 took part in the Newton Abbot Shakespeare Festival at Newton Abbot College. We did a 15 minute version of the witches scene from Macbeth.

Class 6 Leavers' show
For their leavers' show, class 6 performed a musical called "Can You Remember The First Time?"

Art Week
We had a week where everybody did lots of art around the theme of Devon.

Class 6 residential
Class 6 went to Broadleas, Haytor for a week. They all enjoyed themselves and went home tired but full of new experiences.

Bug Poems
Class 5 enjoyed reading Gina Douthwaite's books of shape poems. before writing their own. They tried to keep a regular rhythm and rhyme in couplets.

Class 5 residential
Children from class 5 have been staying at Pixies Holt on Dartmoor. They took part in a range of activities including orienteering, shelter making in the forest, mountain biking and travelling across the River Dart by zip wire. In the evenings they went on a woodland night walk and had a karaoke evening. As you can see by the photos, they had a great time.

Romans and Celts
Class 3 have been studying the Celts and the Romans.
They had a Roman soldier come and drill them for a day and turn them into a tough fighting machine!

Super Dooper Music Looper
Children have been composing their own music using a program called 'Super Dooper Music Looper'.  They select 'loops' of different instruments such as drums, guitars, brass, woodwind and keyboard, special effects and voices and they mix them together to make a piece of music. more...

Children from Class 4 have been staying at the Start Bay Centre, Slapton.
For many it was their first experience of being away from home.

Romeo and Juliet
Year 6 pupils at Ipplepen Primary School have performed a musical version of Romeo and Juliet written by 'Shakespeare 4 Kidz', a theatre company who toured the region last November, playing to a full house of primary school children from all over south Devon at the Princess Theatre, Torquay.

South Devon Dance Festival
Twenty one children went to the South Devon Dance Festival at the Arial Centre in Totnes to perform a dance piece using the Westside Story Jets and Sharks dance sequences as their inspiration.

Big Ben
It is the 150th anniversary of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are having a competition to design an anniversary or Christmas card on the theme of 'Parliament and Big Ben'. These images are computer generated by combining images from the Internet and text using a program called Photoimpression 4.

Year 6 made up a dance and wrote a poem in a day!
It was about the Blitz in London during the second world war.
The dance and poem told the story of an air raid.

Year 6 had an 'evacuee day' when children came to school dressed as evacuees from world war two.

An Out-Of-This-World Christmas
Years 4, 5 and 6 performed the Christmas musical called 'An Out-Of-This-World Christmas'. Class four were stars, robots and nativity, class five were aliens and class six were mechanics, mission controllers and astronauts.

The Camel's Arms
Classes 1, 2 and 3 performed the Christmas musical 'The Camel's Arms'.They sang like a choir of angels (not surprising really, as many were angels!). The children spoke up well and had brilliant costumes.The new colourful lights added to the atmosphere and the back cloths were brilliant. Everybody agreed that it was a wonderful show.

Totnes artwork      
Year 6 children spent an afternoon in Totnes sketching the river and buildings. Back at school, they produced watercolours of the boats on the river and clay work to represent the buildings.

Totnes study days      
Class 6 have spent two days in Totnes. First they had a history day, visiting Totnes Castle, the Elizabethan Museum and the Guildhall.

1066 The Battle of Hastings
As part of their Totnes history project, Class 6 performed the children's musical 1066 The Battle of Hastings.

Book Fair 2008
The children had a book day and they came dressed as their favourite book characters.

Children In Need 2008
For Children in Need we had a pyjama day where children came to school in their pyjamas and slippers. Each person brought in £1 and we raised over £200 for children who are less fortunate than us.

Andy Warhol
Class 6 have been studying the work of 1960s pop artist Andy Warhol.
We have produced these self portraits in the same style using photographs which we have modified digitally on the computer.

Victorian Day
Class 5 have been studying the Victorians.They came to school wearing Victorian clothes and had Victorian style lessons. Miss Allen and Mrs Brewer dressed up, too!

Coldharbour Mill
Class 5 are studying the Victorians. They went to Coldharbour Mill to find out what it would have been like working in a mill. They met the factory foreman who gave them a very hard time.

Halloween Disco
Much fun was had at the Halloween disco. There was a selection of witches and wizards, ghosts and ghouls, cats and rats. We played lots of games with a Holloween slant. It ended at 9.00 pm, but luckily it was a Friday, so we had the weekend to recover!
