Governing Body

The Governing Body for the United School’s Federation is made up of representatives from all four schools within the federation. The Governing Body meets formally at least once a term, and minutes of these meetings are available to parents. Sub-committees dealing with finance, personnel, curriculum and admissions also meet throughout the year.

All governors are volunteers and, once elected, serve for 4 years.

The Role of the Governing body

The Governors have a general responsibility for the management of the school. The Senior Management Team, led by the head teacher make the day to day decisions about the running of the school. Governors are responsible for overseeing the ethos of the school, setting the budget, monitoring the curriculum, the appointment and dismissal of the head teacher, conducting formal appeals from staff and parents, and deciding the policy on admissions.

School Development Plan. (SDP)

All schools are required to produce a plan each year. The Senior Management Team, staff and governors discuss areas for development and targets and priorities are agreed. The plan is monitored throughout the year by the governing body. The following is a summary of this years SDP.

To ensure all children make expected or better progress in all aspects of the curriculum especially writing and maths.

To ensure teaching is innovative and inspiring, utilising cross curricular links and ICT effectively.

To develop stronger links within the local and wider community through increased awareness and understanding of community needs locally, nationally and globally.

To embed the distinctiveness of the school in all aspects of school life.

To ensure all learning areas provide effective space and appropriate surroundings for high quality teaching and learning.
